I spelled out my founding thoughts.

From October 14th, we will celebrate our 43rd anniversary.
This time, I would like to once again tell you about my thoughts on the founding of our garden.

History of Shunpo Tea Garden
Founder (Takeshi Goto, Satoko Goto)

The history of Shunpo Tea Garden dates back to about 100 years ago.

There was a farmer named Yoshitaro Goto in Kemori, Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture.

His son, Haruichi, researched deep-steamed tea with a strong flavor, went to Hokkaido, and devoted himself to drinking delicious, strong-flavored tea just like his father (Yoshitaro).

Haruichi is blessed with eight children, and all four boys have inherited their father's will and established tea houses.

The youngest child, Takeshi Goto, built a Japanese tea specialty store called Shunpo Chaen in Totsuka, Yokohama.

"Shunho Tea Garden" in Yokohama Totsuka received "Yoshi" from the first generation Yoshitaro and "Haru" from the second generation Haruichi.

The significance and purpose of our business is to create Japanese tea lovers around the world.

Before starting his own business, my father wholesaled Japanese tea to supermarkets and specialty stores.

I felt strongly that there was no other way but to tell producers what quality, taste, and value customers want, buy the tea leaves that customers truly appreciate, and deliver them directly to customers! .

Since tea is an agricultural product, the quality varies greatly depending on the weather and soil every year.
You can always buy it anywhere at the same price like a supermarket, and you can make tea without running out of stock.

You can't "create deliciousness".

◎ Prepare yourself by setbacks.

However, when we started our farm in 1979, there were almost no shops that sold deep-steamed green tea directly from the farm like our farm .

《The photo below is the original photo of our main store in 1979.》 Appearance at the time of founding. The red field umbrella stood out as a landmark. It looks like a wholesaler! 》

Among the customers who came to the store for the first time, there was even a rumor that "a newly opened tea shop is selling powdered tea and running a tea shop!"
Still, I started my business with a passion, so even the customers hit me with their passion.

As a result, I received more and more comments such as, "That tea house is noisy (at first, I was giving a speech about tea with a microphone!").

As expected, my father was worried whether this was really good, so he sold tea leaves in a beautiful shape only once.

This time, a customer who was happy to purchase our tea said, "The taste of the tea has changed! It's not delicious!" I received a stronger opinion than ever before. My father,

"What are you doing..." I reflected deeply.

And then I realized. In fact, my father's passion was conveyed to customers who were looking for really delicious tea.

And that's when I made up my mind.

"Tea is everywhere, but what we should do at our garden is to 'create the taste, not the shape'!" 』

"Let's devote ourselves to creating tea that will impress our customers, 'It's delicious!' ! 』

"We can't do anything else that pleases our customers. I will do my best to do things that only this kindergarten can do.”

《The photo below is in 1984, five years after its establishment. Greatly renovated. In order to always serve tea, we have prepared chairs and made it a shop where customers can relax. 》

《The photo below is the former head office that was open for 34 years until March 31, 2013. Now it will be a place where "Flower shop in the city" is open. I joined the company in 2003, and even before it became what it is today, we have undergone two renewals to create a customer-oriented store. 》

◎ “Create deliciousness instead of making deep-steamed tea”

Since I (Takanori Goto) joined the company, I have further pursued the idea of "creating deliciousness rather than creating shape."

This is very important, but unlike in the past, "deep steamed tea" is now sold everywhere, and since it is deep steamed tea everywhere, even if the tea is delicious because it is deep steamed tea, No.

This is because if the fresh leaves of the producers who grow tea leaves with thick mesophyll are properly steamed at the farm stage, it will not be a genuine deep steamed tea.

When tea leaves with thin leaf flesh are steamed, they look like deep-steamed tea, have a darker green color, and seem to be well extracted, but the tea leaves do not have the taste of tea. Also, even if the tea leaves are chopped and deep-steamed later, even if the tea leaves are finely chopped, the umami will not be deepened.

If we cannot "identify" such tea leaves, we cannot make our deep-steamed tea, which has a strong umami flavor, little bitterness, and a mellow taste.

No, the phrase "deep steamed tea" doesn't fit! The appearance of tea leaves in our garden is

It's just that "the current shape of tea leaves is the result of repeated efforts to create deliciousness."

So...
In order to "create deliciousness", we make tea by repeatedly tasting tea leaves at least 300 times every year.

The tea born from more than 300 tastings is the aged Kuradashi special steamed green tea "Totteoki" and the most popular green tea "Hitotoki"!

Popular NO.1 special steamed sencha "Hitotoki"

◎ "Passion x Effort x Good Match = Creation of Taste"

And every year, I went to see the production areas and producers that I had never purchased before, and conveyed our ideas and thoughts.

This is because a deep relationship with the producer is essential to create deliciousness.

Today, we have good connections with major producers in Shizuoka, Kagoshima, Kyoto, Aichi, and Fukuoka, and are able to make tea.

There are limits to what one person can do. In order to "create deliciousness", we have received cooperation from many producers and continue to take on challenges.

◎ “Creating the joy of customers and creating a next-generation Japanese tea specialty store!”

In addition, as a specialty store in the consumption area, we listen to the customer's voice and deliver it to the production area, and continue to learn about tea culture such as the Urasenke tea ceremony and Japanese tea instructors in order to deliver genuine tea culture. I'm here.

In order to make it easier for customers who are interested in tea to come to the store, we have started selling original sweets, manufacturing soft serve ice cream, and even running a “Shunpou Cafe”.

As a Japanese tea specialty store where you can taste tea leaves, manufacture and sell, sweets that make use of the strengths of tea, and experience-based product sales in the consumption area of tea ceremony culture and teapot culture,

“By thinking and creating everything on our own, we deliver heartfelt proposals that make Japanese tea a wonderful addition to your daily life.”

We are growing with the spirit of learning new from the past while refining the original significance of our founding.

For the 43rd year of the founding festival, for the first time, we sold a cafe menu and limited set limited to the founding festival.

My father and mother no longer work at the store, but they still support us.

I will continue to do my best to increase the number of customers who can be happy through delicious Japanese tea! !
