Environmental radioactivity survey results around our new tea production area

Thank you very much for always using Shunpo Tea Garden.

Yesterday, there was news about Ashigara tea,

We would like to inform you of the results of our survey of the area around our new tea production area.

5/11 Announcement by Shizuoka Prefecture Nuclear Safety Division

Regarding tea leaves and drinking tea in Kakegawa City, Omaezaki City (collected on May 2) and Kikugawa City (collected on May 7), which are adjacent to Makinohara City, the index (temporary regulation value) for food and drink intake restrictions was exceeded. is. In addition, it is well below the public annual exposure dose limit of 1 mSv/year, so there is no level to worry about the effects on health.

■ Measurement results

[Collected on May 2 in Omaezaki City]

(tea leaf)

Cesium-134 maximum: 41.3Bq/kg raw

Cesium-137 Maximum value: 41.6Bq/kg raw

Iodine-131 maximum: 1.51Bq/kg raw

[Kikugawa city, collected on May 7]

(tea leaf)

Cesium-134 50.15Bq/kg raw

Cesium-137 60.85Bq/kg raw

Iodine 131 1.73Bq/kg raw

(drinking tea)

Cesium-134 2.43Bq/kg

Cesium-137 1.89Bq/kg

Iodine-131 0.02Bq/kg

*Drinking tea: 10 grams of processed tea leaves

with 430ml of hot water
Infused at 90°C for 60 seconds.

■ Effects on health

1. Compared to the provisional regulation value, the radioactive cesium in tea leaves is about 1/4.5, the drinking tea is about 1/115, and the radioactive iodine in tea leaves is about 1/115. It is 1/1,150, which is below the provisional regulation value.

2. Comparison with annual exposure dose limits for the public
The evaluation result of the annual exposure dose due to radioactive substances detected in tea leaves is 0.00647 mSv/year, which is sufficiently low compared to the annual exposure dose limit of 1 mSv/year for the public, and is not a level to worry about the effects on health.

Excerpt from index (temporary regulation value) related to restrictions on food and drink intake

Radioactive iodine Drinking water, milk, dairy products 300Bq/kg

Vegetables (excluding root vegetables and potatoes), seafood 2,000Bq/kg

Radioactive cesium Drinking water, milk, dairy products 200Bq/kg

Vegetables, Grains, Meat, Eggs, Fish, Others 500Bq/kg

Drinking tea falls under the category of "seasoned beverages" in the "others" category of cesium.
